Ikpeme joins APC, calls on C'Riverians to support and not distract Ayade

Ikpeme officially registering as a member of All Progressives Congress

Comrade Kingsley Ita Ikpeme, DG of Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority has defected from the People's Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress in his hometown of Asang Eniong. TDN can authoritatively report.

Registering at his Asang polling unit of Eniong ward, in Odukpani LGA of Cross River State, the governor's aide who is also the Chairman of Odukpani Leadership Academy informed the press that he is joining the governor in APC to continue in adding value to the state. He further stated that his desire to join the APC was borne out of his believe in the industrialization drive of the governor and desire to support the governor achieve his dreams.

Ikpeme therefore, called on Cross Riverians from all works of life to join hands with Governor Ben Ayade in his development efforts of the state. Stating that Cross River State with her lean resources cannot afford to be an opposition state, rather there's need to socket the state to the center in a bid to attract support towards the development of the state.

The vibrant youth leader also called on Cross Riverians and politicians to decease from distracting the governor. He said instead the governor should be encouraged and supported to deliver on his mandate.

In his words: "I am grateful to God for making this day a reality, and my sincere appreciation goes to leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state and my ward precisely for holding the fort. I also want to thank the governor for taking the decision to defect to the Progressive Family. You see, as a state with lean resources, we can't afford to be an opposition state due to our high debit profile.

It was necessary we socket the state to the national. With Federal Government presence and support we can achieve much in terms of infrastructure. Take a look at our deep seaport project, the super highway, the Odukpani spaghetti flyover etc. Now that we are in tandem with the national, I believe we will begin to experience a lot of changes and development.

Politics is over, it is now time for governance, I therefore call on all political stakeholders across party leaders not to distract the governor rather he needs our support and encouragement to grow the state." He concluded.

While filing questions from journalists, Chief Edet Asia, a party chieftain and Director General of Fresh Mandate support group expressed satisfaction in the person of Comrade Ikpeme stating that he is optimistic Ikpeme will add value to the party. While welcoming defecting members into the party, chief Asia said the insinuation that the party is headed for discord due to struggle for leadership position is only an imagination that won't see the light of the day.
