UNICAL Medical College: Let's Discuss 2021 kicks off as 6 Teams scrambles for 150k




The yearly Medical quiz competition put together by a group of students from University of Calabar Medical College under the auspices of Let's Discuss Organization has kicked off at the Dr. Spencer Efem Final year hall in Calabar. 


The competition which was rolled out in 2019 by Mrs. Verval Egbe then Deputy Senate President of the Student Union Government Parliament as a pet project for her office has now gotten to its third edition with 6 teams competing for the grand prize of one Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only, (N150, 000). 


The academic event according to the organisers which will not only educate, but financially empower students of the institution as they compete in an all medical student Quiz competition kicked off with the preliminaries today. Out of the six teams competing, four teams are expected to make it to the finals slated for 2nd of July 2021 at UNICAL Senate Chambers close to VC block at the University. 


The competing teams made up of year one to final year students are all sponsored by professors from the college. The teams are: Prof. Itam Hogan, Prof. Ndoma-Egba, Prof. Victor Ansa, Prof. Ima-Obong Etuk, Prof. E. Ngim and Dr. Vincent Nwagbara

In her remarks, Verval Egbe, lead organiser of the event informed that Let's Discuss has evolved to becoming a household name in the University, stating that the next phase will see an interschool Let's Discuss event where other Medical Colleges will be part of the Medical Quiz Competition. 






"LET'S DISCUSS is aimed at promoting academic proficiency and build team spirit among medical and dental students of the University of Calabar and will see the students exchanging intellectual discuss on anatomy, Physiology, biochemistry, gynecology, pathology, Oral Biology, Paediatrics, etc in a quiz competition. 


The event which in 2019 was tipped to be the first of its kind, and the best ever to be put together by any student body on campus, is yet to find its rival. 


Let's Discuss is an academic competition designed by Sen. Verval Egbe (a former Deputy Senate President of the 6th SUG Senate) University of Calabar, Calabar, a medical student of medicine and surgery who has love for politics and giving back.
