NDDC: C'River Community writes FG, Backs Sir Maurice Effiwat's Nomination, Call for Immediate Inauguration of Board

The traditional leadership and chieftains of Ikoneto Community in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State has called on president Buhari to keep to his promise and as a matter of urgency inaugurate the Niger Delta Development Commission Board. 


The appeal which was contained in a letter signed by Prince Ukorebi J. E. Ani-Ita on the behalf of Ikoneto Community, informed that the community is in solidarity with the nomination and appointment of Sir Maurice Effiwat as a member of the NDDC Board, stating that Sir Effiwat is experienced, reliable and has the "Capacity to function in the Niger Delta Development Commission Board and so desire for him to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience in order to bring the desired development to the Niger Delta region which has been the yearnings of the people of the region."

 The letter which was written to Chief Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs also informed that Ikoneto is an oil bearing community which shares an acreage area of OPL 2031 with Uruan LGA in Akwa Ibom State, and has large deposits of oil and and gas (hydrocarbon) seeking for government's attention.

IKONETO COMMUNITY ALIGN WITH HIS EXCELLENCY PRESIDENT
MUHAMMADU BUHARI (GCFR) ON THE NOMINATION AND APPOINTMENT OF 
SIR MAURICE EFFIWAT TO THE BOARD OF THE NIGER DELTA DEVELOPMENT 
COMMISSION (NDDC).


It is worthy of note that His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) 
th nominated the person of Sir Maurice Effiwat who was screened by the 9 Senate as a member of the Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in his wisdom saw to it that Sir Maurice Effiwat has the Capacity to function in the Niger Delta Development Commission Board and so desire for him to bring his wealth of knowledge and experience in order to bring the desired development to the Niger Delta region which has been the yearnings of the 
people of the region.

We in Ikoneto community, an oil bearing community which shares an acreage area of OPL 231 with Uruan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, seek and request the Honorable Minister of Federal Ministry Niger Delta Affairs Obong Godswill Obot Akpabio to honour his words by inaugurating the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with Sir Maurice Effiwat as member so has to bring the desired change to the Niger Delta region and Ikoneto community as an extension.
Ikoneto community is made up of two clans and has abundant of oil and gas 
(hydrocarbon) deposits, also over a hundred cap oil wells scattered around begging for the attention of the Federal Government. 


We believe our prayer for the inauguration of the Niger Delta Development Commission Board will see the light of the day with our own son, Sir Maurice Effiwat as a member.

Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Long live the Niger Delta Region
Long live the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State.

It should be recalled that, recently Cross Riverians woke up with the rumors that the state governor is attaching a plan to substitute Maurice Effiwat with Stephen Odey, having failed to secure the Northern Senatorial slot for him in the recently conducted bye election to replace the late Sen. Rose Oko.
