AWKA: Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Anambra chapter has sent in congratulatory messages to Professor Chukwuma Soludo over his recent victory at the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state.

In a press statement signed by the state's Chairperson, Comrade Franklyn Onyekachi, the election was keenly contested and Prof. Soludo emerged as the winner.

"We know that power comes from God and he gives to whomsoever he wills.
Professor Soludo has been a great achiever all his life and expectations are high. He cannot afford to let the people of Anambra down.  We expect him to implement his manifesto to the letter".

The association further called on Governor- elect to carry the minority and vulnerable along in his government as the present administration of Governor Willie Obiano has done well in this regard as the citizen expects him to do even more.

" We urge him to have in mind the  National Gender Policy which recommends 35% affirmative for women participation in governance as he forms his cabinet".

Meanwhile,  NAWOJ Anambra commended women of Ukwulu in Dunukofia Local Government Area especially Mrs. Eunice Ngozi Onuekwusi seen in a viral video rejecting five thousand Naira monetary inducement for turning down monetary inducement to vote-buying as it denigrate the electoral process and should be shunned. She described her as champion for democracy.

"They are testaments that Anambra women are women of integrity. It is heart warming that Governor Willie Obiano rewarded Mrs. Eunice Ngozi Onuekwusi with the sum of one million naira".

However, the chairperson for NAWOJ commend all the candidates who contested the gubernatorial election with Professor Soludo that have congratulated him.

"That is the way to go and we call on those who are yet to do so to toe the same path".
