2023: Listen to Ayade and Shelf your Ambition: Aide Warns Owan, Others from C'River Central

Bukie Okangbe, popularly known for the role she played during and after the 2019 Gubernatorial election in Cross River State where she wept bitterly on Facebook after her Principal, Sen. John Owan was denied what she described as "Fair Judgment" by the election tribunal and the party leadership at the national was said to have called on Owan Enoh to withdraw his case from court despite having concrete evidence to upturn the judgment. A development that did not go down well Bukie was seen on social media crying bitterly for the injustice meted on her principal.

Many months later Ayade would defect to the All Progressives Congress and would reconcile with Owan and Owan was seen eulogizing Ayade, calling him all manners of superlative names. Which he said those names were drawn out of his experience with Governor Ayade during the elections.

Bukie Okangbe who now works with the governor as his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, has been very committed and passionate about her new job as she has demonstrated loyalty and faithfulness to not just the party but the governor as well.

In a recent Social Media post by Bukie Okangbe, she has called on her former boss, Sen. John Owan Enoh, whom she said she's still loyal to not to go against the directive given by the governor as to what senatorial district will produce the next governor.

There had been insinuations based on the body language of the ex lawmaker is warming up to contest for the seat of governor, for the second time.

In a social media post, the media aide to the governor said after stakeholders had waited for long, the governor who is the leader of the party has finally given a direction on which zone should produce the next Governor.

She said the governor who had said he will be handing over to a southern governor is therefore, to be adhered to. She used the medium to call on all Stalwarts Stalwarts of the party to abide by the direction of the governor and shelf their intention should it go against the directive of the governor.

Okangbe who informed that she's still loyal to Owan Onor and described him as her political mentor, said she has decided to follow the governor direction to give the Southern senatorial district of the state her total support to produce the next Governor of Cross River State, while calling on her political mentor, Owan Enoh to follow suit and support the governor.

"I will therefore plead that for party cohesion, loyalty and strength to have total victory in the 2023 elections from councilor to the governorship without leaving one position for the now near non existence opposition we must all submit ourselves and queue behind our leader's direction. I appeal to our party leaders and followers to please put the collective good and interest of the party above personal interest and gains." Her statement reads in part.

It should be recalled that Sen. John Owan Enoh had in 2019 contested the election in 2019 against Governor Ben Ayade despite the gentleman agreement which Ayade was riding on to pick his second term. But unfortunately he lost to Ayade who will be completing the 8 years tenure of the Northern Senatorial District's years while looking up to the South to produce the next Governor.

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State

Okangbe's post reads in full:

After a long wait, speculations, arguments back and fort on zoning and the complexion of Cross River State politics going into 2023, finally the governor and leader of the party in the state as enshrined in the APC constitution Prof. Sen. Ben Ayade at a defection rally of Arc. Bassey Ndem, Orok Duke, Edem Ekong and others pointed at a clear direction where the APC governorship candidate would come from come 2023.

As a party loyalist and an aide of the governor I Here-for declare my total support to him and party and the direction he has pointed.

I will therefore plead that for party cohesion, loyalty and strength to have total victory in the 2023 elections from councilor to the governorship without leaving one position for the now near non existence opposition we must all submit ourselves and queue behind our leader's direction.

I appeal to our party leaders and followers to please put the collective good and interest of the party above personal interest and gains.

As a loyal party woman a young progressive leader and an advocate of equity and good governance, I have decided to follow the Governor's direction to give the Southern Senatorial District of the state my total support to produce the next Governor of Cross River State.

I want to use this opportunity to thank my mentor and political father whom I shall remain eternally loyal and grateful to.
