Central C'River Youths Hold Rally, Call on Engr. Ben Akak to Declare for Governor

Young persons from Central Cross River State have called on Engr. Ben Akak, Chairman of the Ben Akak Foundation to declare for the governorship seat of Cross River State, stating that he is the most suitable for the job based on his antecedents as an industrialist.

The Youths who made the call during a rally in Ikom Local Government Area of the State where a crowd of young persons across the six local government areas of Central Cross River State stormed the streets demanding Ben Akak to publicly make his intentions to occupy government house come 2023 known.

Speaker after speaker, the young persons from different backgrounds, political divides and interest groups said Ben Akak has been a blessing to young people in Cross River State even without a political portfolio and has impacted meaningfully on lives across the state, hence such benevolence and humanitarian gesture should be replicated and taken to the next level.

Earlier, The Ben Akak Foundation Youth Department had held a town hall meeting for young persons in the district. According to the Coordinator of the Ben Akak Foundation Youth wing, Victor Ndifon (PhD) the Meeting became imperative as the Foundation needed to carry out a needs assessment, to feel the pulse of the youths and have a heart to heart conversation with young persons in order to capture the exact needs of the youths as it plans its activities for the year.

In response, many youths expressed their concerns as they called on the Ben Akak Foundation to empower more young persons in the areas of skill acquisition and job creation as this would help in curbing youth restiveness. They also called on the Foundation to assist students in schools through scholarships, bursaries and other educational empowerment schemes.

Overwhelmed by the town hall meeting which the young persons observed is the first of its kind where an individual is engaging young persons to seek their inputs before assisting them beyond political interests cumulated into a motion to call on Engr. Ben Akak to aspire for the office of the Governor of Cross River State.

With this motion moved, the youths stormed the Ikom market in a rally where they publicly gave an ultimatum of two weeks for him to declare his interest for the number one seat in Cross River State.
