2023: Female Journalist Warms Up to Replace Essien Ayi, Sets up Campaign Team

Emana, Assessing members of her campaign team

Ukorebi Esien | 8th March 2022

As the race for 2023 general election gets fiercer, with politicians justling for political offices, a renowned broadcaster with Channels Television has thrown her heart into the ring seeking to replace Rt. Hon. Essien Ayi Ekpenyong as the representative of Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar South federal constituency in the green chambers of the national assembly come 2023.

In what could be described a major step in advancing her political aspiration, Mrs Emana Ambrose-Amawhe, who hails from Esuk Mbat in Akpabuyo local government area, formally commissioned her Campaign Team members in her Calabar residence.

Speaking at the event, Amawhe said she came into the race with a mission to serve the people of ABC and not to become famous as she was already famous as a broadcaster with an internationally recognised station.

" I came with a mission, I came because I have interest to serve. If It was fame I was looking for I should have gotten it from my former job as a broadcaster with Channels Television which gave me global fame. I am not an outsider, I have been around for sometimes, whenever I return home, I see the way things are, I know the state of affairs of our state, I have worked and consulted for order states so I believe it's time to go back and build.

I want to be a representative that is sensitive, sensitive to the needs and aspirations of our people. I am not your everyday politician, I am not them all, I am Emana, I have a reputation and name to protect, I have children and I will want them to know that their mother contributed to the building of this state.

So, I have come to work with you, I believe with you, we will together make this dream a reality." She said while commissioning the team.

Speaking further, the legislative hopeful, said her campaign mantra is pivoted on tripod stand of three "R"s of Rebirth, Restoration and Reward.

The campaign team which has members drawn from across the three Local Government Areas that makes up the federal constituency has Mr. Francis Etang as it's Director General.

While admonishing members of the team to work hard and leave no stone unturned in the field, the DG of the campaign team, Francis Etang said the campaign has "The New Dawn" as it's central theme stating that it was time for ABC federal constituency to experience a new dawn. He therefore, charged team members to go back to their polling units, wards, LGA's etc and multiple their numbers in support of Lady Emana.
