2023: There will be no Voter Apathy in C'South, LG Boss Declares, Speaks on Back to South

The Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Esther Bassey, popularly known as 'Queen of South' has said the council area will not record voter apathy in the forthcoming 2023 elections as machineries has been set in place to ensure mass turn out on election days.


 
Speaking to newsmen shortly after a world press conference organised by leaders of Southern Senatorial District to reemphasize on the back to South mantra, the council boss said it was necessary for the South to speak in one voice in solidarity with the governor's decision to return power to the South while soliciting the support of Cross River central and north 


Admitting that many voters in Calabar South do not vote on election days, the Local Government boss disclosed that there are plans to increase the council votes in the forthcoming elections stating that she has already set machineries in place to ensure all those who do not vote during elections turn out thus reducing voter apathy come 2023.

She said voter Sensitisation exercises, voters education and mobilisation as well as ensuring adequate security during elections are part of her strategies to reduce voter apathy in next year's elections. 


The Queen of South also used the opportunity to call on all residents and Indegines of Calabar South Local Government Area to turn out enmass and be registered in the ongoing Voters Registration Exercise stating that the Council is ready to reposition the voting strength of the council area as Calabar South in the forthcoming general elections. 



The Cross River Southern Senatorial District Stakeholders World Press Conference had the who's who of the South in attendance where they used the opportunity to call on all well-meaning Cross Riverians to rise in support of power rotation and return of power to the southern senatorial district come May 29th, 2023, stating that the state has witnessed continuous peace and stability as a result of power rotation from one senatorial district to another since 1999 till date.
