Women from the Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar South Federal Constituency have called on their Lawmaker and Representative, Rt. Hon. Apostle Essien Ayi to honour the agreement he had with leaders of Akpabuyo and the Late Lawmaker who represented Akpabuyo at the Cross River State House of Assembly, Late Hon. Elizabeth Ironbar.

According to the PDP State Women Leader South, Mrs. Margate Okon Ephraim, during the 2019 elections Essien Ayi had on several occasions informed stakeholders from Akpabuyo that the 2019 elections being his fifth term will be his last and that in 2023 he will specifically ensure Akpabuyo produces the next Representative for the constituency.

Speaking further she said she remembers vividly on one occasion at the residence of the Late Hon. Mrs. Elizabeth Ironbar who until her demise represented Akpabuyo at the state house of assembly. She said Essien Ayi prostrated before Ma Ironbar holding her feet and begging to be giving this one last chance to represent the federal constituency, promising to handover to Akpabuyo in 2023. He went on to promise that even if it's a cripple Akapuyo produces as their representative, he will support them to victory.

The women leader therefore called on the Rt. Honourable member to Honour his words as Akpabuyo has produced an aspirant in the Person of Lady Emana Duke Ambrose-Amawhe.

"I thank God because He didn't give us a cripple but a beautiful, smart, intelligent and bold lady who will make us proud. Therefore, I am calling on Essien Ayi to make himself honourable and honour his words because the cloud and all the heavens were witnesses to his confessions on that fateful day and they will surely work against him using his own words." She said.

Other Women Leaders present at the visit to Lady Emana's House also called on Lady Emana to be strong and fearless as they are behind her stating that out of the 7 Green Chambers Legislative positions in the state Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Calabar South will produce a female representative.

They unanimously agreed that it was time for Apostle Essien Ayi to take a bow respectfully or he will be thrown out through the ballot.

Essien Ayi who is said to be a native of Odukpani Local Government Area has represented Calabar South as Chairman of Council, later he became a House of Representative member at the National Assembly where he supposed to speak for Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar South Federal Constituency. Records has it that the legislative member has returned to the house for 5 consecutive terms and he is currently seeking a 6th term despite his failing health.
