Breaking: Police Take Over C'River State House of Assembly as Court Sacks 20 Lawmakers

Less than 24hours after the Federal High Court in Abuja sacked 20 Lawmakers from Cross River State, the premises of the Cross River State House of Assembly have been taken over by men of the Nigerian Police.

According to theparchment.org who visited the assembly "a large detachment of policemen from the police headquarters, Diamond hill Calabar" have been stationed in the premises of the Assembly.

As at the time of filing this report, the purpose of the siege was still unclear, although speculations are that the security men deployed to the Assembly are on the orders of governor Ben Ayade in a bid to prevent the remaining Legislators who are of the PDP from sitting.

The security which comprise of the Nigerian Police Force, The Nigerian Civil and Security Defence Corp, Anti-Cultistm Squad etc made sure nobody went in or out of the Assembly Complex

Recall that The Federal High Court which sat in Abuja yesterday declared vacant the seat of 20 lawmakers in Cross River State. The lawmakers include 18 State House of Assembly members and 2 House of Representatives members who followed the governor to APC.
