Achiane Adams, anipr | 17th March 2022

In line with the mandate of the Cross River State Office of the Head of Service, in ensuring Staff compliance to extant civil service rules, the Head of Service, Mr. Timothy Ogbang Akwaji, has led a team of Management Staff, on unscheduled on-the-spot visits to government establishments in the State.

Mr. Akwaji said the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Template, which monitors and evaluates workers in the areas of  job target, character, work attitude, dressing, absenteeism, punctuality, discipline, and others is being taken seriously in order to make the civil service more responsive to quality service delivery.

Reiterating that such unscheduled routine checks, which has come to stay are not avenues for witch-hunting workers, Akwaji said: "The fact remains that the State government does its best not to owe salaries, it is on that note I call on workers to justify their monthly pay by being diligent in their duties. If anyone is found wanting, disciplinary actions will be enforced. Help government to help you".

He expressed dissatisfaction at the attitude of some workers who were absent from work without permission and MDAs that did not have attendance/movement registers, ordering that disciplinary actions be taken.

MDAs visited include: Governor's Office; Ministries of Finance, Women Affairs, Sustainable Development Goals; Humanity and Social Welfare; Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau; Departments of Chieftaincy Affairs, Political and Legislative Affairs and Job Creation.
