C'River State Auditor-General Honours Retired Staff

Eleven staff who recently retired  from service have been honoured by the  the State Auditor-General, Comrade John Odey for their meritorious service to the State.

In a farewell speech at a Send Forth organised by the Office of the State Auditor-General for the Retirees, Comrade Odey who stressed the need for diligence and hardwork in service, expressed appreciation to the retirees for their meritorious service, noting that they had aided in checking financial misappropriation in the State and also mentored their successors.

He lamented the risky nature of the Audit profession maintaining that some had been shot, maimed in the course of discharging their duties and expressed appreciation to God that the retirees were all in good health.

The State Auditor- General commended the State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade for approving the establishment of an Audit Service Commission as well as better remuneration for Audit Staff in the State and called on Auditors to be upright in carrying out their duties as the financial watch dog of Government.

Former Auditor-General of the Federation and Chairman, Audit Service Commission, Mr. Tony Ayene, called on Auditors to be dedicated in whatever assignment they are given and charged them to familiarise with as well as embrace new and emerging reforms in the Audit profession.

The Head of Service, Mr. Timothy Akwaji, who was a special guest at the event, congratulated the State Auditor-General for "giving prominence to  Auditors in the State" noting that "auditors help the Government to cut cost" and ensure that due process is applied in financial transactions.
 
He commended the retirees for not attempting to extend their stay in Service by falsifying their records but choosing to retire honourably.

Mr. Emmanuel Ewa who spoke on behalf of the retirees, expressed appreciation to the State Auditor-General for the honour given them and urged auditors to imbibe diligence and hardwork at all times.

Highpoint of the occasion was presentation of gifts to the retirees as well as a surprise gift to the State Auditor-General by his Staff.
