Senator Prince Bassey Otu, gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives congress in Cross River State has said he haven't withdrawn from the race stating that the news ranking the round about his withdrawal is false.

Otu speaking in a statement issued by his media aide Barr Ekpenyong Akiba explained that the form circulating the social media where political opponents of the gubernatorial hopeful is rumoured to have withdrawn from the race was a document filled by all aspirants in the All Progressives Congress as part of requirements to via for offices.

The statement reads in part:

"The letter of withdrawal is a mandatory form accompanied with the nomination and interest form for all APC aspirants. This is in light of the proposed consensus arrangement in fulfilment of the Electoral Act as amended.

All Aspirants from President to State House of Assembly filled and submitted the mandatory withdrawal form alongside the nomination and interest form. It is therefore shocking that mischievous social media agents of Sen. Owan Enoh decided to make it viral to imply that Sen. Bassey Otu has withdrawn from the Gubernatorial race as a consequence of their baseless litigation."

The statement further noted that one of the aspirants for the number one seat in the state, Senator John Owan had officially withdrawn from the race to support Otu as the consensus candidate days before the guber primary election of the party.
