C'River Govt Appeals Ruling on Munene Stool



 A motion on notice for a stay of execution has been filed in Calabar high court on a matter between the Governor of Cross River State and two others and the Muri Professor Itam Hogan Itam.
     In a motion filed before a Calabar High Court, the respondent prayed the court to stay action on the originating motion being dissatisfied in the said ruling delivered by Justice A.E. Ayade as the respondents have filed a notice of appeal.
    The motion also declares that the appeal is on the jurisdiction of the court to hear and determine the matter in HC/MSC 154/2022 and the grounds of  appeal are recondite
   The motion also noted that it is also necessary for the stay of execution to be granted pending the determination of the appeal.
   Meanwhile, the Efut Combined Assembly, the apex decision making body of the Efuts has appealed to all indigenes of Efut to remain calm and go about their normal businesses pending the determination of the appeal.
   In statement signed by the Secretary General Ndabu Dr Godwin Bassey noted that while the Assembly cannot fault the decision of the High Court, it reserves the right of appeal where it suspects miscarriage of justice
